Grand Avenue & Olive Street Bus Priority Lane Project
The Grand Avenue & Olive Street Bus Priority Lanes Project adds bus lanes along a 1-mile segment of Grand Avenue and Olive Street during peak travel hours.
Location: Central Los Angeles
Phase: Design & Engineering
Type: Better Transit
Metro’s plan includes better transit and bus lanes are a key component to faster, more reliable service. Located along a 1-mile segment of Grand Avenue, between Hope Place and Pico Boulevard, and a 1.4-mile segment of Olive Street, between 2nd St and Pico Bl, this project willd add bus priority lanes in the rightmost traffic lane on weekdays from 7am to 7pm. On both streets, the existing protected bike lanes and nearly all of the curbside parking will be preserved.
Metro is also partnering with the City of Los Angeles and other bus operators to pilot* and test new amenities, such as e-paper (real-time information displays) and lighting, at several bus stops along Grand Avenue and Olive Street. (*This is a temporary pilot program subject to change.)
This project is in the Design & Engineering phase and public outreach will be conducted along the corridor ahead of implementation in late Summer 2021.
