The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (Metro) contractor for the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project — Walsh/Shea Corridor Constructors (WSCC) — will implement lane closures in the Crenshaw and Obama boulevards intersection to finalize street restoration work beginning Thursday, February 18, 2021.
Work has been scheduled from 6 a.m. Thursday, February 18, through 7 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2021.
The work includes grinding of the existing roadway, construction of a center median, placement of new asphalt paving, final striping of three traffic lanes in each direction, and installation of traffic signal improvements along Crenshaw Boulevard.
This work requires:
- Lane closures along Crenshaw and Obama boulevards which will be implemented with one lane of traffic maintained in each direction.
- Construction of the center median on Crenshaw Boulevard between Exposition and Obama boulevards.
- Placement of new asphalt paving along Crenshaw between Rodeo Place and Exposition Boulevard, and Obama Boulevard between Bronson Avenue and Victoria Avenue.
- Parking restrictions along Crenshaw Boulevard between 29th Street and Coliseum Street, and Obama Boulevard between Victoria Avenue and Bronson Avenue.
Safety
During construction emergency and pedestrian access to area businesses will be maintained. All essential businesses will remain open and accessible during the restoration process. However, driveway access may be restricted.
Access to emergency responders will be maintained at all times.

The Crenshaw/LAX Line is an 8.5-mile light rail line that will include eight new stations to serve the Crenshaw, Inglewood, Westchester and LAX communities. A ninth station will be added after opening to connect the Crenshaw/LAX Line, Metro C Line (Green) and bus lines to the future LAX Automated People Mover.
