Small Scale Retail Committee
Overview
LA Metro’s Transit Oriented Communities Economic Development Program aims to prevent displacement of small businesses near transit in Equity Focused Communities. Part of this initiative includes the Small-Scale Retail Pilot which will study placing amenities at stations for Metro riders, the surrounding community and creating opportunities for local small businesses.
Status
The Willowbrook Rosa Parks Station was redesigned with a new A Line station platform, which includes a large bike hub, which has been identified for potential use as a retail space. The bike hub contains secure indoor bike storage, a covered area for bike racks, sizable retail space and a restroom and shower facility. Currently the SSR team is conducting surveys and hosting focus groups to gather feedback on what the community wishes to see in the space.
