The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will be offering free service on all bus and rail lines on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve to help everyone travel safely during the holidays.
No fares will be collected during the following times:
- Friday, December 24, starting at 9 p.m. through Saturday, December 25 at 2 a.m.
- Friday, Dec. 31, 2021, starting at 9 p.m. through Saturday, January 1, 2022, at 2 a.m.
All Metro Rail stations with fare gates will be unlatched and fare boxes and validators will not deduct fare from TAP cards and fare media.
There will be no overnight or enhanced rail service on Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve.
Normal weekday bus and train schedules and service levels will be in effect. Trains will run approximately every 20 minutes after 8 p.m., and last trains will depart around midnight.
Metro will run on a Sunday/holiday service schedule on Dec. 25 and on Jan. 1, with added capacity on the L Line (Gold) for those heading to the Tournament of Roses or the Rose Bowl game.
After the parade, floats will be displayed near Victory Park in Pasadena. On January 1, shuttle service from Sierra Madre Villa Station to the post-parade viewing area will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. On January 2, shuttle service from the station to post-parade viewings at Victory Park will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.

Metro Bike Share will also be offering free rides for the holidays from December 24, 2021 through January 2, 2022. To redeem a 30-minute free ride, riders can select ‘1-Ride’ at any Metro Bike Share kiosk, online or in the Metro Bike Share app. Riders can redeem free rides multiple times throughout the day using promo code 010122. A credit or debit card is required. The first 30 minutes of all rides are free. Rides longer than 30 minutes are $1.75 for each additional 30 minutes. Electric Metro Bike unlocking fees are waived. Temporary credit card holds and Smart Metro Bike convenience fees will apply.
