Metro is improving safety at two high-risk rail crossings along one of the nation’s busiest rail corridors. The project includes three phases: a new roadway connection (2028), a new overpass (TBD), and a bike/pedestrian bridge (2029). Together, these improvements reduce collisions and create safer, more connected routes.

What is the purpose of this project?

To eliminate two high-risk rail crossings and improve safety for all travelers while supporting future increases in train service.

How many phases are planned?

Three:

  • Phase A – roadway connection (2028)
  • Phase B – overpass (TBD)
  • Phase C – bike/pedestrian bridge (2029)
Why is this area high-risk?

The Doran Street crossing has one of the highest collision rates in Los Angeles County, including fatalities.

How does this support future rail service?

Grade separations allow uninterrupted commuter, intercity, and potential high-speed rail service.

What is the Doran Street River Access Bridge?

A planned active transportation crossing over the LA River to improve bike and pedestrian access.

Will rail service be disrupted during construction?

Metro will coordinate with operators to minimize impacts and adjust schedules as needed.
