SR-91/I-605/I-405 Corridors Program Project Map
Metro’s I-605 Corridor “Hot Spots” Program targets locations with high accident rates and operational issues on and near the I-605 and SR-91 freeways. The program focuses on freeway segments, ramps, interchanges, and intersections where improvements will have the greatest safety and mobility benefits.

Proposed upgrades include ramp and interchange reconfigurations, intersection and pedestrian enhancements, ADA accessibility improvements, and other safety-focused designs. These improvements are tailored to each location through technical analysis and community input.

Metro has allocated $590 million in Measure R funding for the Gateway Cities Subregion, including $136 million for locally led projects. Projects are in various stages of development and aim to benefit residents, commuters, and freight operators.

What is the I-605 Hot Spots Program?

The program identifies and funds targeted improvements along the I-605 corridor to address safety and operational issues at key locations. Improvements focus on ramps, interchanges, intersections, and adjacent roadways.

How is this different from the I-605 Corridor Improvements Project?

The Corridor Improvements Project is part of the broader Hot Spots Program, which includes freeway and local road projects funded by Measure R to improve safety and mobility.

What kinds of improvements are being considered?

Improvements include redesigned ramps and interchanges, intersection upgrades, pedestrian and ADA enhancements, and other designs to improve safety and reliability.

Who is leading this program?

Metro leads the program with Caltrans, local jurisdictions, and regional councils of governments. Local jurisdictions lead non-freeway improvements with allocated Measure R funds.
