Rail to River Active Transportation Corridor Project – Segment B
Creating a safe, convenient corridor for walking, biking and rolling in Southeast LA

The project will create a 4-mile active transportation connection along Randolph Street between the Metro A Line Slauson Station and the LA River. The project will create a safer, more convenient option for walking, biking and rolling in the communities of Bell, Huntington Park and Florence-Firestone. Metro is currently advancing the design and environmental review. In early 2025, Metro held two in-person community meetings and a virtual session to share proposed improvements with the public and gather input. Feedback from these meetings is shaping the project design in partnership with local jurisdictions and nearby projects.

Frequently Asked Questions
Segment B is the eastern portion of Metro’s Rail to River Active Transportation Corridor. It extends the pathway approximately four miles east from the Metro A Line Slauson Station to the LA River. The project serves the communities of Bell, Huntington Park, and Florence-Firestone, improving access to walking, biking and transit.
The Randolph Corridor Active Transportation project is a separate but coordinated effort led by the City of Commerce, with participation from Bell, Huntington Park and LA County. The two distinct projects share the same corridor and similar goals. Together, Metro and the partner agencies are creating a unified, high-quality active transportation route along Randolph Street.
Segment B will include safety features such as dedicated bike lanes, enhanced crosswalks and street treatments to increase visibility. The project is designed to make Randolph Street safer and more comfortable for people walking, biking or rolling, while increasing driver awareness of active transportation users.
Active transportation improvements within the public street right-of-way will be constructed by the cities and county under a cooperative agreement. The pedestrian and bike ramp connecting to the LA River Path within the Union Pacific railroad area will be delivered in coordination with Metro, the City of Bell and the Randolph Corridor Active Transportation project.
Each local agency—Bell, Huntington Park, Commerce and LA County—will maintain their portion of the corridor. The City of Bell will be responsible for maintaining the new ramp connection to the LA River bike path.
