Overview
Metro’s plan includes projects to ease traffic, including the I-105 ExpressLanes. By providing an option to bypass traffic between the end of existing high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes west of the I-405 Freeway in LA to Studebaker Road in Norwalk, this project can improve commutes on the I-105.
Metro ExpressLanes are high-occupancy toll lanes that help improve traffic flow and provide drivers with more reliable travel times. ExpressLanes allow carpools, vanpools and buses to travel for free, while also giving solo drivers the option of paying a toll to use the lane. The I-105 ExpressLanes project is part of plans to expand the network of ExpressLanes in LA County.
Status
Metro and Caltrans are collaborating on the environmental review process for this project and released a Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) and a Draft Environmental Assessment (DEA) in May 2020. We are currently preparing the final EIR/EA, which has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
