Metro is converting existing high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes into two ExpressLanes in each direction on I-105 between Sepulveda Boulevard and Studebaker Road/I-605. This upgrade will improve trip reliability, regional mobility, and access for communities along the corridor. Construction on Segment 1—from Sepulveda Blvd to Central Avenue—is underway and expected to open to traffic in 2028.

Key improvements include new auxiliary lanes, updated signage, soundwalls, and seismic retrofits. The project also supports future investments in local transit and active transportation through the Net Toll Revenue Grant Program. It is partially funded by Measure M and shaped by a community-based equity assessment.

What's Underway

Metro is advancing I-105 ExpressLanes construction with major activities including retaining wall, sound wall, underpass, and bridge reconstruction, plus roadway paving. Work spans multiple locations in both directions, with construction beginning as early as March 2025 and continuing through Spring 2026.
