As part of the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project, Metro’s contractor, Walsh-Shea Corridor Constructors (WSCC) will continue working on civil improvements along the 8.5-mile alignment for the next three months, as part of the restoration process for the future Crenshaw/LAX light rail line.
The construction work is taking place on Florence Avenue between West Boulevard and Manchester Avenue, Crenshaw Boulevard between Vernon Avenue and 7th Street, Aviation Boulevard between Century Boulevard and 116th Street and La Colina Drive.
Work has been scheduled from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Sunday and is expected to continue through March 2021.
Civil Work Improvements
The civil work includes curb and gutter reconstruction, ADA ramps, street lighting, traffic signals, sidewalk reconstruction, driveways and median improvements. The work will continue to be conducted in segments and phases. Work on La Colina Drive will include backfill, grading, landscaping, and fence installation.
What to Expect
Florence Avenue
Lane closures adjacent to the construction activity on Florence Avenue between West Boulevard and Manchester Avenue.
Crenshaw Boulevard
The current phase will extend the closures of northbound and southbound lanes on Crenshaw Boulevard, adjacent to the activity, to facilitate civil improvements.
Aviation Boulevard
Lane closures adjacent to the construction activity on Aviation Boulevard between Century Boulevard and 116th Street.
Sidewalks in these areas will be closed intermittently and pedestrians will be redirected to the opposite side of the street.
The roads will be reopened to vehicular traffic and parking daily after work hours.
La Colina Drive
Work will be along La Colina Drive on Metro’s right-of-way.
Access for emergency responders at the four work locations will be maintained.
The Crenshaw/LAX Line is an 8.5-mile light rail line that will include eight new stations to serve the Crenshaw, Inglewood, Westchester, and LAX communities. A ninth station will be added after opening to connect the Crenshaw/LAX Line, Metro C Line (Green), and bus lines to the future LAX Automated People Mover.
