Community Convos: East Los Angeles

May 24, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Community Conversations with East Los Angeles Leaders on the Chican@ Moratorium

Join a virtual gathering with leaders from East Los Angeles for:

“A Glimpse of the Chican@ History and Movement”

Date: Tuesday, May 24

Time: 12–1 pm

Metro’s “Community Conversations” are online meetings centering on community leaders to help us learn the histories, cultures, activism, and assets of the neighborhoods that shape Los Angeles County.

About this Event

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, many changes were occurring in Los Angeles for the Latinx community. The Chican@ Moratorium was the beginning of a lifetime of activism and a wave of community expression through art. Join Evelina Fernandez, Maria Elena Yepes, and Paul Botello as they share a glimpse of the Chican@ Moratorium and its influence in the Chican@ Movement and culture in Los Angeles.

The conversation is free to join! Make sure to RSVP to receive the virtual meeting link and call-in information.

Live Spanish interpretation will be available on Zoom.
