Centinela Grade Separation Project
Overview
Metro’s plan for better transit includes converting the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project’s at-grade crossing at Centinela and Florence Avenues in Inglewood to an above-grade crossing. This project will help to improve local traffic flow during events at The Forum and SoFi Stadium.
Status
On April 28, 2023, the South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG) unanimously voted to reallocate all available Measure M Subregional Equity Program (SEP) Funds, which had previously been prioritized for the Centinela Grade Separation Project, to serve as a backstop for the Inglewood Transit Connector Project (ITC) Project. In response to the SBCCOG’s request, the Metro Board made a motion at the May 25th Board meeting to advance the ITC project and reallocate fund from the Centinela Grade Separation Project to the ITC project. The Centinela Grade Separation project was near completion of the 30% Preliminary Engineering design development phase in Spring 2023, but is currently suspended due to lack of funding.
