Early Planning
The Long Beach–East Los Angeles Corridor Mobility Investment Plan is a community-driven effort to reimagine transportation and quality of life along the I-710 Corridor. Covering 18 cities and three unincorporated communities between Long Beach and East LA, the plan invests $743 million in multimodal improvements that prioritize transit, walking, biking, safety upgrades and cleaner air. Shaped by local leadership, the plan replaces an earlier proposal (to widen the I-710 freeway) with a new, equity-centered approach for mobility, long-term health and environmental justice. Initial funding comes from Measures R and M, with projects designed to attract over $3 billion in additional public and private investment. The plan includes more than 200 projects and 15 programs aimed at reducing pollution, improving access to opportunity and reconnecting neighborhoods divided by freeway infrastructure. |
