Metro’s plan for better transit includes converting the at-grade railroad crossing at Rosecrans and Marquardt Avenues in Santa Fe Springs to an above-grade crossing. This project will improve safety and traffic flow, increase the efficiency of train movements and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from idling vehicles.
Metro is leading this project in cooperation with the cities of Santa Fe Springs and La Mirada, Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway, Caltrans, Amtrak, California Public Utilities Commission, Federal Railroad Administration, Metrolink and High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA).
Preliminary work has begun on this project, which is expected to be completed in 2023.
