Lost & Found
The easiest and most efficient way to report a lost item is by filling out a Lost Item Report. Once submitted, you will receive a reference number via email, confirming the report has been successfully logged into the system. Retain the number in the event your item is located. You will need it and a valid ID to recover your item(s).

You can visit the Lost & Found office at 3571 Pasadena Av (accessible via the Gold Line Heritage Square Station). Monday through Saturday between the hours of 9am and 5pm and complete a lost item report. A reference number will be generated and shared with you and sent to your email address. Yes. When submitting a lost item report online there is an option available to attach an image.
If you do not have access to a computer, you may take the picture to the Lost & Found office and present it along with a completed lost item report.

Found items may be taken to the Metro Headquarters building, located at 1 Gateway Plaza (downtown LA) or they will be accepted at the Lost & Found Office, located at 3571 Pasadena Av (near the Gold Line).
It takes 3–5 business days for lost items to be processed by the Lost & Found office. If your item is recovered, you will receive an email or phone call to the address or number provided on the report submitted. Please make sure to bring a valid photo ID and reference number in order to retrieve your items.
If recovered and contact information has been provided, you will be notified by the Lost & Found office.
You can complete the Property Release Form and choose the option for a designee to retrieve your item(s) or the option to have your item(s) shipped (see shipping label procedure). Lost & Found requires the completed Property Release Form granting permission from the owner, as well as a copy of a valid ID (i.e. driver license, non-driver license). No exceptions.

Bicycles can be retrieved at 1 Gateway Plaza (downtown LA)., Monday through Friday (except major Holidays). The hours of operation are from 8am to 12pm and 1pm to 3:30pm
A valid ID and the reference number are required.
Recovered items are held for 90 days.
After 90 days, unclaimed items are auctioned.

Property Release
LOS ANGELES COUNTY METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY PROPERTY RELEASE FORM
Please fill out the release form to authorize release of your property, either to a designated third party or via shipping. For your protection, you must include a copy of a government issued photo Identification (i.e. driver license, passport, etc.). Return the completed form with a copy of your ID via mail or email at MetroLostAndFound@metro.net. Please note items are held for a maximum of ninety (90) days.
LACMTA does not pay for shipping of items, under any circumstance. We will package items and complete shipping documents, only after the Release Form has been completed with the required information and received by this office.
For your security, we will only accept an account number from a shipping company or a pre-paid postage shipping label from a shipping provider (see shipping label procedure). We will not accept cash or credit card payments for shipping charges.
If you elect to have your property released to a third-party designee he/she is required to provide a valid government issued photo ID, at the time of pick-up. The ID must be an exact match with the name provided on the form.
